This two-day workshop will focus on the fundamental principles essential to achieve a convincing three-dimensional representation of the human figure in oils.
These principles will be analyzed in a logical sequence beginning with gesture and continuing through to a long pose with the opportunity to analyze light and its effect on the human form. Focus will be on prioritizing the information unique to each stage and establishing a cohesive balance between the use of abstract movements and shapes with structure and anatomy.
The workshop will be highlighted with demonstrations of these methods and concepts accompanied by question and answer sessions. The format of this workshop will accommodate students of all levels.
Steve Early earned an Exceptional Merit award in the 2009 Portrait Society of America competition and garnered Certificate of Excellence awards in the society’s 2010 and 2008 competitions. His work has been included in numerous group exhibitions and many private collections.
